About

The Female Gaze site examines the various ways the female gaze is embodied in film, TV, advertising and other media. It also looks at academic discussions of The Female Gaze, especially the complex issue of simply defining its parameters. Intersectional feminism and queer theory are included in this site (n some contexts, “the female gaze” can probably include any way of looking, filming and viewing that isn’t performed by straight men). This site aims to include as many viewpoints as possible.

This site is run by writer, filmmaker and librarian Louise Lushton.
